Welcome aboard! The Toronto Marlies have lowered the ramp and a mass of talent has formed a crew of young guns trying to make their mark in the AHL. Following in the skate strides of Rielly, Sparks, Broll and Percy are other CHL grads Tyler Biggs (Oshawa-OHL) and Joshua Leivo (Sudbury/Kitchener-OHL) to go along with a captain last year in the NCAA – Andrew MacWilliam (North Dakota).

Alright, this is where the real fun begins. Eleven games and counting left in the 2012/13 season. Marlies are in Rochester in their final game of their seven game road trip and – like all of us – want to return home on a winning note. It was no ordinary trip through the Midwest division for the Toronto Marlies this past weekend. The group of games through Chicago, Milwaukee and Peoria represented numbers 3,4 and 5 of 7 straight away from Ricoh Coliseum and also brought the total number of states visited to 4 during the stretch of travel/games. Joe Colborne has four points in the past five games
Ryan Hamilton is only five goals away from hitting the 30 goal plateau for the first time ...

Toronto vs Rochester - Will Acton

Here are six thoughts relating to tonight’s game:

Toronto has lost only one of six meetings against the Americans this season
Marlies are only one point out of first of the North division, which would vault them into third place in the conference
Ryan Hamilton leads the team with 21 goals and 34 points
Rochester has three players (Porter, Mancari, Brennan) with 35 or more points, two of which are over 40
The Americans have only a single win in their last five
Tune into all the action starting at 7pm on Rogers TV ...

Games at hand. The amount of games a team has played can help determine where they end up in the standings. It played in Toronto’s favour, following a win on Sunday, as the Marlies jumped from 8th to 3rd in the Western Conference. This is why the point continues to be made – the stretch of 10 straight home games (now 8) carries a lot of weight for the Marlies because of how they are positioned in the standings. At 51 games played heading into this week, Toronto has 27 ...
