The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Rochester Americans, AHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 2-1 in a shootout on Wednesday evening at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

Carter Ashton got the Marlies on the board on a power play at 7:45 of the first period. The Toronto Marlies (14-9-1-0) are in Rochester to take on the Americans (12-11-2-2) tonight at 7:05 pm. This will be the fourth of 10 match-ups between the North Division rivals this season. So far, the Marlies have a record of 1-2 against the Americans. Their last meeting was on November 30th, when the Marlies defeated the Americans by a score of 3-2 at home.
