There you have it. Following Chicago’s loss on Friday night, the Marlies now know they have one of the eight Western Conference tickets allowing entry into the post-season gala. Now all that’s left to be decided is in which spot they’ll be slotted and if it will guarantee home ice advantage.

Do I spoil the surprise now, or do I wait to include it in one of my six points to think about? That is the question.

Here are six things to roll around in your mind ahead of puck drop:

Friday starts a four game stretch for the Marlies which will see the Toronto team span all of Canada’s time zones. With only four points between the Marlies and the western conference leading Texas Stars, four wins could go a long way to earning the top spot. The early morning sun peaking over the Don Valley Parkway, the smell of fresh popcorn and the sound of seven thousand screaming school age children – nothing is more telling of 11am hockey than the way your senses tingle. Just a little different from every other game. You should try it out some time.

But since I have your ear, I’m just as well sharing six thoughts ahead of Wednesday’s game:

Yes there’s a pink elephant in the room, so we’re just as well […]
