Unfinished Business - Morgan Rielly

Following a trip to the Calder Cup Finals in 2012, which saw the Marlies opponent lift the Calder Cup, members of the Toronto team revisit last season’s journey as they prepare to do it all again this year. Unfinished Business, a Leafs TV special, tells the story of the Toronto Marlies from the moment Norfolk hoisted the cup on June 9th to the final game of the 2012/13 season as told by Korbinian Holzer, Jerry D’Amigo, Morgan Rielly, Dave Poulin and Jon Abbott. Welcome aboard! The Toronto Marlies have lowered the ramp and a mass of talent has formed a crew of young guns trying to make their mark in the AHL. Following in the skate strides of Rielly, Sparks, Broll and Percy are other CHL grads Tyler Biggs (Oshawa-OHL) and Joshua Leivo (Sudbury/Kitchener-OHL) to go along with a captain last year in the NCAA – Andrew MacWilliam (North Dakota).

It was no ordinary trip through the Midwest division for the Toronto Marlies this past weekend. The group of games through Chicago, Milwaukee and Peoria represented numbers 3,4 and 5 of 7 straight away from Ricoh Coliseum and also brought the total number of states visited to 4 during the stretch of travel/games. However, those are not even the cool stats! The game against the Wolves, followed up by the game vs the Admirals represented to milestone moments for a pair of young Marlies.

Korbinian Holzer collected an assist in his first game since returning to the Marlies, and newcomer Mike Komisarek finished the game with two shots and ...

Tonight’s game is big for a lot of reasons, so hear are six points to keep in mind:

With a victory, the Marlies win streak could be extended to six – a feat that has not been accomplished since March 30 – April 8 last season
A Toronto win and a Grand Rapids loss would move the Marlies into the conference’s second spot
Marlies are without smooth skating defenceman Jake Gardiner and captain Ryan Hamilton, as both have been recalled to the Maple Leafs
Joining the Marlies ...

You know the season is in its twilight hours when you can recap not one, not two, but three roster moves all in the same day.

The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that 2012 first round selection Morgan Rielly had been assigned to the Toronto Marlies. Rielly’s Moose Jaw Warriors failed to make the post-season, so the Leafs’ prospect’s season ended after registering 12 goals and 54 points in 60 games. Pretty darn impressive, huh. Rielly is expected to wear #44 for the Marlies.

Jon Abbott spoke with ...
