Hershey Bears - Braden Holtby

After falling to both the Senators and the Penguins on the road, Dallas Eakins stated that he remains proud of how his team has played.

For many, the Marlies strongly outplayed their opponents in the first half of a four game road trip and have deserved a better result. The team’s ultimate leader and general, the bench boss now in his fourth season as head coach, said their fate was not due to a lack of effort, a needed change to their system or the search for a better ...

WBS Penguins - Phil Dupuis

As the Marlies continue their tour of the Eastern Conference, their next stop is the home of the Penguins.

Now, before everyone gets tongue-tied, I’ll help you out with the town name. The Penguins reside almost right in between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia; spelled Wilkes-Barre you’ll want to pronounce it WILLKS-BAR. The Scranton on the end honours the town 30 minutes away (made popular over recent times by The Office).

Ryan Hamilton, Greg Scott and Carter Ashton all scored upwards of 20 goals last season; Mike Zigomanis and Nazem Kadri were both close to doing the same. Matt Frattin produced at a point-per-game pace during the playoffs, and both Nicolas Deschamps and Jerry D’Amigo put up double-digit figures in the post-season.

Add to that ...

The world of sports is an ocean full of great stories.

Matt Frattin goes down with an unfortunate injury the secure the advancement to the Calder Cup Finals for his team, doesn’t play again for nearly six months and then scores a pair of goals in his return. With all the focus once again turning on the offensive output of Nazem Kadri, the talented forward silences his critics with 10 points in four games. Paul Ranger takes a leave from the game for almost three years, returns as part ...

Toronto v Hamilton - Scott

The boys are back in town.

The Marlies return home Saturday to face the Hamilton Bulldogs in what has begun to feel like a weekly affair. It’s the fifth game between the two rivals of the fledgling regular season, with two more tacked on in preseason.

After battling hard to tie it on Friday, two goals in 34 seconds sealed the fate of the Marlies in the third period, giving the Bulldogs their first win in four games and handing Toronto their first loss in five. After having traveled to six different ...
