Toronto vs Grand Rapids - Jussi Rynnas

Usually I’m game for coincidental stats. But this time I’m not too hot on it.

The Marlies are coming off a 4-3 shootout win. It’s only the second time they have seen the shootout this season. The first time was a Sunday home game against Grand Rapids. A contest the Griffins won 4-3.

Do you see what I’m talking about? A little close for comfort.

That said, I’m all about turning a new leaf; putting past demons behind me; and improving on lessons learned. I don’t expect the Marlies to take […]

It is another two game week for the Marlies, so it leaves plenty of room for munching on the latest team news!

DESSERT

It could be a two milestone week for the Toronto Marlies Hockey Club. Brad Ross scored his 1st pro goal on Sunday, and it was timely vs. the Abbotsford Heat. Ross tipped in a point shot during the 3rd period that would tie the game at two goals apiece and produce a comeback for Toronto in the game. While the Calgary Flames affiliate spoiled the party, Ross still has […]

Toronto vs Rochester - Nicolas Deschamps, Mike Zigomanis

I have always found interest in the ebbs and flows of a season. The way the same group of 20 men can climb to such highs and no sooner be forced to face what at times seems to be a complete turn of luck.

Even more intriguing than the ritualistic ups and downs are the nuances of the game completely out of the control of those who make up the team.

Miles traveled, back heavy schedules, hyperactive three-in-three weekends and long rest periods all add to the drama of a […]

Toronto vs Lake Erie - Spencer Abbott

When Keith Aucoin started the season scoring at a point-per-game pace, I don’t believe many were surprised. The veteran had long inked himself as a consistent contributor in the American League.

Matt Frattin’s goal-per-game pace raised a few more eyebrows. I’m not saying it isn’t incredible – because it is – but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t already thought of Frattin as an impact player. All of us knew he was going to make a splash upon return. He’s a guy that […]

Toronto vs Lake Erie - Nazem Kadri

The Toronto Marlies turn their attention Sunday to the Lake Erie Monsters, a team they have only met once so far this season.

Despite having won only two of their last eight, the Monsters aren’t a team the Marlies can afford to take lightly. The divisional foe handed the Toronto a 4-0 loss their first time in town, and rank third in the league with a 8-4-0 record while on the road. That record is much for the reason of the team’s sixth place standing in the Western Conference, […]

Oh these three-in-three weekends.

I don’t know how the players do it. But year after year they always manage. Far be it from me to be the guy complaining!

It’s game two of three straight for the Toronto team, who is coming off a victory in Rochester on Friday. Both the Americans and the Marlies travel to Toronto through the night in preparation for a Saturday night showdown at Ricoh Coliseum.

So far in their season long series the Marlies have collected a victory in both their home building and on […]
