The Toronto Marlies fell 2-1 to the Lake Erie Monsters on Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Troy Bodie opened the scoring at 19:01 of the first period off of a T.J. Brennan point shot eight seconds into a Toronto power play. Byran Lerg tied the game for the Monsters at 4:43 of the second period on the power play. The Monsters would score a shorthanded goal in the third period from Matt Hunwick to seal the victory.

Next up, the Marlies return home this Saturday, December 7th ...

The Toronto Marlies (12-7-1-0) are in Lake Erie to take on the Monsters (10-9-0-1) for a divisional match-up tonight at 7pm. This will be the third match-ups between the two teams this season. The last time the Monsters and Marlies met was on November 14th, where the Marlies fell to the Monsters 3-1 in Cleveland.

The Toronto Marlies fell to the Lake Erie Monsters by a score of 3-1 on Thursday evening at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

After a scoreless first period, Josh Leivo opened up the scoring for the Marlies for the third game in a row at 11:16 of the second period. Opening weekend continues for the Marlies as they face the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche today at 5pm at Ricoh Coliseum. This will be the third game in 3 days for the Monsters and the second game in two days for the Marlies. The Monsters hosted the Abbotsford Heat at home on Friday and Saturday and earned a split over the two games.

The Marlies kicked off their season with an exciting 4-3 OT win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. ...

Following the NHL trade deadline, Toronto’s hockey teams rosters have remained in tact. In fact, the AHL version has grown, following the completion of playoff runs in the CHL. A trio of OHL’ers have migrated to the American Hockey League to join the Marlies.

Garret Sparks played 60 of his club’s 68 games this season. While with the Guelph Storm, Sparks put up 36 regular season wins to lead the OHL and  to go along with a .917 save
