Toronto vs San Antonio - Spencer Abbot, Mike Kostka, Ryan Hamilton, Keith Aucoin

I usually have some sort of fancy opening relating hockey to life, or to the time of year, or perhaps just a few words attempting wit. Today all I’m going to open with is 7-2-1-0.

That is the Marlies record over the last ten games. At the moment it’s the second best in the league. By the end of the day, a win could bring the team the league’s best record over the past ten as well as the division’s top spot. Abbotsford, who presently hold the first place […]

Toronto vs San Antonio - Ryan Hamilton

It’s been quite the week for Ricoh regulars and Marlies faithful alike.

I’ll delve into the individual accomplishments in a minute, but first I think it’s appropriate to just appreciate the past ten games for the Marlies. Despite key injuries, the club has put up a 7-2-1-0 record. Without a team effort, individual success is quite tough – and generally appreciated somewhat less.

Following a rough start after a shortened offseason, the club broke out the steam roller and is tackling every obstacle thrown its way. The Marlies now sit […]

Toronto vs Grand Rapids - Jussi Rynnas

Usually I’m game for coincidental stats. But this time I’m not too hot on it.

The Marlies are coming off a 4-3 shootout win. It’s only the second time they have seen the shootout this season. The first time was a Sunday home game against Grand Rapids. A contest the Griffins won 4-3.

Do you see what I’m talking about? A little close for comfort.

That said, I’m all about turning a new leaf; putting past demons behind me; and improving on lessons learned. I don’t expect the Marlies to take […]

Toronto vs Rochester - Will Acton

Haven’t had enough of the Americans yet? Well then, you’ve come to the right place.

For the fourth time in two weeks the Marlies will take on divisional foe Rochester. The good news? the previous three have resulted in wins. In fact, including the first round playoff series between the two clubs, Toronto has defeated their Rochester rival in nine straight games. How’s that for a streak?

But unlike the meetings of late, Rochester heads into Saturday’s contest with the confidence of two straight victories behind them. One being to […]

It is another two game week for the Marlies, so it leaves plenty of room for munching on the latest team news!

DESSERT

It could be a two milestone week for the Toronto Marlies Hockey Club. Brad Ross scored his 1st pro goal on Sunday, and it was timely vs. the Abbotsford Heat. Ross tipped in a point shot during the 3rd period that would tie the game at two goals apiece and produce a comeback for Toronto in the game. While the Calgary Flames affiliate spoiled the party, Ross still has […]

Toronto vs Abbotsford - Nazem Kadri

Sunday’s a big game for the Toronto team.

The gap between the Marlies and the first place Heat has continued to narrow. Toronto is now only four points back of Abbotsford and a game with a four point swing (the outcome either shrinking the gap to two points or widening it to six) a favourable end could bring the Marlies within spitting distance of the conference’s top spot.

Although the Abbotsford Heat are no feeble foe – two Toronto losses in British Columbia would attest to that – the divisional adversary has […]
