Unfinished Business - Morgan Rielly

Following a trip to the Calder Cup Finals in 2012, which saw the Marlies opponent lift the Calder Cup, members of the Toronto team revisit last season’s journey as they prepare to do it all again this year. Unfinished Business, a Leafs TV special, tells the story of the Toronto Marlies from the moment Norfolk hoisted the cup on June 9th to the final game of the 2012/13 season as told by Korbinian Holzer, Jerry D’Amigo, Morgan Rielly, Dave Poulin and Jon Abbott. You know the season is in its twilight hours when you can recap not one, not two, but three roster moves all in the same day.

The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that 2012 first round selection Morgan Rielly had been assigned to the Toronto Marlies. Rielly’s Moose Jaw Warriors failed to make the post-season, so the Leafs’ prospect’s season ended after registering 12 goals and 54 points in 60 games. Pretty darn impressive, huh. Rielly is expected to wear #44 for the Marlies.

Withdrawal can refer to any sort of separation, but is most commonly used to describe the group of symptoms that occurs upon the abrupt discontinuation/separation.

Well if that’s the case, I’m definitely in withdrawal.

It’s been six weeks into an offseason that has felt quieter than normal. Perhaps it was the excitement of eight straight months of puck. I’ve always enjoyed asking questions.

I remember an Anne Murray song from when I was a kid titled “Why, Why, Why?” The song is a conversation between a mother and daughter, where the little one asks some of the incredible questions that we all pondered when we were five.

It includes golden nuggets such as “why can’t a mouse eat a streetcar,” and “why can’t a cow have kittens?” When finally asked why her questions weren’t being answered, Anne answers honestly “Because I don’t know the answers, good night good night.”
