Toronto vs Hamilton - Nazem Kadri and Keith Aucoin

The latest in the rivalry series has dropped.

Centring around the premise that a singular team’s success fuels rivalry, this edition of Rivalry: Marlies/Bulldogs walks through the post-season success that both the Toronto and Hamilton teams have found in recent years. It’s nutty when you think of it. The Bulldogs won the Calder Cup in ’07. The Marlies storm back and go on a run to the conference finals in ’08 taking the first two series in seven games. Both teams make the playoffs in 2009. Hamilton goes […]

Toronto vs Hamilton -

As Toronto prepares to host Hamilton for the first time this season, they also search for their first points against the QEW rival.

The Bulldogs took game one of the home-and-home set on Friday by a score of 4-1, notching three unanswered tallies before Toronto posted one. Louis Leblanc, playing on a line with former Marlies forward Darryl Boyce, scored a pair of goals.

So with that out of the way, what are we waiting for? Let’s get at this:

Toronto has posted 40 shots in the past two games and allowed a […]

Toronto vs Hamilton - Ben Scrivens

Two games in three days reminds us all that the hockey season is back.

Especially when the calendar reads five days until the Toronto Marlies home opener against the Rochester Americans.

But until points start counting in the standings, the Marlies have one last game to tinker with the roster and make the decisions necessary to fill those final few holes in the lineup. Dallas Eakins will cycle out some of those who helped lift the club to a victory in Cobourg on Saturday in the first of a two-game set against […]

Toronto Marlies vs Hamilton Bulldogs

I was always a fan of TV mini-series.

A television show (sitcom, drama or otherwise) which ran a half season would consist of 13 episodes. To put that into context; including two preseason meetings, the Toronto Marlies will face the Hamilton Bulldogs 14 times between October and April. This has enough content to be a prime-time Emmy award winner.

QEW rivals Toronto and Hamilton square off in their first of 14 meetings – which also happens to kick off both of their preseason schedules – Saturday at 7:00pm in Cobourg.

Looking back over […]

OHL Greyhounds v Knights - Ryan Rupert

It’s the biggest ten days for hockey outside of the season’s boundaries.

This is for all of you spending more time between morning coffee and lunch break reading hockey blogs than answering emails. All the ones counting on the volume of news over this short summer frenzy to quench your thirst ahead of July’s shortage. All those just like me.

It’s an off-season marathon of sorts. In the tinkerings of my little mind it acts as a sort of mental fitness testing; clearly of an unconventional means. If I’m able to keep […]

Would you look at that. Just look at it.

Season number seven is coming to a close.

It didn’t hit me until sometime between my third and fourth coffee this morning. An early trip to Pearson to see the team off as they depart for Abbotsford on their final regular season road trip had my mind silently reviewing the year as my eyes inspected their lids on the ride back.

Two-hundred and eight thousand fans. Two hundred and thirteen goals for. Seventy-four games and forty-four […]
