Toronto vs Abbotsford - Nazem Kadri

When I think of the Abbotsford Heat, do you want to know what I think of?

I recall three straight seasons the Marlies closed out against their west coast rival, two without a hope of the post-season.

I remember Greg Scott notching his his first career hat-trick in Abbotsford.

Above all, I am taken back to the very moment the Marlies new they were heading to the conference finals; having scored an overtime goal to take their fourth straight against the Heat. In a recent chat with Mike Zigomanis, the goal scorer, he ...

AHL Toronto vs Hamilton - Will Acton

For the third time in eight days the Toronto Marlies go toe to toe with Hamilton, instilling in the 40 on the ice and the countless watching that the AHL battle of Ontario is alive and well.

I feel like I should parade around the ring holding a sign with a giant ‘3’ painted in bold lettering. After all, the referee’s whistle to start the game is close enough to the ringing of the bell.

The Marlies make their second trip to Hamilton in this fledgling season, accounting for the only games ...

Toronto vs. Hamilton - Joe Colborne

The AHL season doesn’t really feel like the AHL season until the first edition of the AHL Battle of Ontario. And while we had to wait until early December last season, both Hamilton and Toronto will host the other this weekend.

That’s right, it’s a home and home; AHL rivalry style.

Including the two preseason meetings (which Toronto won both) the Marlies and Bulldogs will square off 14 times this season, including a pair of home & home contests.

For those who want the low down ahead of the game, here are my ...

Toronto vs Lake Erie - Nicolas Deschamps

Flying high after a big win in front of a capacity crowd, the Toronto Marlies will look to do it all again on Sunday as the Lake Erie Monsters come to town. That’s makes back to back divisional games for the Toronto team.

It seems like almost every wild game I can remember the Marlies being involved in happened against Lake Erie. There was one night in Cleveland where the Marlies seemingly scored although it was never recognized by the officials, not that I blame them; the puck went right through ...

Toronto vs Rochester - Jerry D'Amigo

You’ve waited long enough, you may have the hockey season back now.

We are all just a little spoiled, don’t you think? We were able to root for a team right through the middle of June. That said, the symptoms associated with mid-August hockey withdrawal didn’t seem any less torturous. Making us all that much more appreciative that hockey is back at Ricoh.

This should make for a fun season.

The Marlies start right where they finished last season; at home. With the opening of the 2012/13 season, Toronto will play host to ...

Toronto Marlies vs Hamilton Bulldogs

I was always a fan of TV mini-series.

A television show (sitcom, drama or otherwise) which ran a half season would consist of 13 episodes. To put that into context; including two preseason meetings, the Toronto Marlies will face the Hamilton Bulldogs 14 times between October and April. This has enough content to be a prime-time Emmy award winner.

QEW rivals Toronto and Hamilton square off in their first of 14 meetings – which also happens to kick off both of their preseason schedules – Saturday at 7:00pm in Cobourg.

Looking back over ...
