I’m a huge YouTube nerd. Trust me, sometimes I think my family’s planning an intervention. It’s because of this mild obsession with the online video source (one that I’ve patched right through to my television on numerous occasions) that I get a little giddy over the fact that the Marlies YouTube channel finally has a video that struck the one million mark.

Drew MacIntyre’s spectacular behind-the-back glove save is simply one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. It’d be near impossible to track […]

DESSERT

Even in the last game of the regular season, the Marlies had a 1st to celebrate. Tyler Biggs recorded his 1st AHL/Pro goal with the 1st tally of the game vs St. John’s. Biggs collected 26 this past season with the Generals in the OHL and had 9 with Miami of Ohio one year before in the NCAA. The former Maple Leaf’s 1st round pick became the 9th Marlie player this season to record his 1st AHL goal in the 2012-2013 campaign. Congrats, Tyler!

The final two games of the month of January also represent the remaining pair before the AHL All-Star break. It also means this is the final Pre Game Meal before February, so please enjoy!

DESSERT
The Maple Leafs home opener is always¬† a game that holds a few more special moments than most of the rest to follow over the course of the NHL season in Toronto. For the Marlies organization, it was extra special. 11 of the 20 players that made up the Maple Leafs home opening roster had spent playing […]

Toronto vs Grand Rapids - Will Acton

I never really liked road games.

I understand they’re necessary but there’s nothing that can compare to rolling into a familiar rink, getting some fresh popcorn and taking in some afternoon puck. However, if you were to look outside my window right now you would get why I’m thankful the Marlies are closing out 2012 in Grand Rapids.

Yepp, I said it. Closing out 2012. It’s the last game for the Marlies in the calendar year.

I’m almost sad to see it go. Think of all the incredible things that 2012 […]

Toronto vs Rochester - Ben Scrivens

Counting down the Marlies top five plays of the week:

#5 – Brad Ross deflects the puck past the netminder for his first professional hockey league goal

#4 – Korbinian Holzer dishes out a punishing hit

#3 – Ryan Hamilton walks out from the corner and backhands it for a goal

#2 – Ben Scrivens makes a diving save against Rochester’s Verone

#1 – Greg McKegg picks the far corner and opens a floodgate of bears which pour onto the ice

There ya have it. The top five plays. Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? Let me know. […]

Toronto vs Rochester - Will Acton

Haven’t had enough of the Americans yet? Well then, you’ve come to the right place.

For the fourth time in two weeks the Marlies will take on divisional foe Rochester. The good news? the previous three have resulted in wins. In fact, including the first round playoff series between the two clubs, Toronto has defeated their Rochester rival in nine straight games. How’s that for a streak?

But unlike the meetings of late, Rochester heads into Saturday’s contest with the confidence of two straight victories behind them. One being to […]
