When something becomes very complicated there are always people willing to create a correlation that simplifies it so everyone might understand it. Often times, of course it becomes so simplified that people misconstrue what the original intent of the information was. Take the Big Mac index; originally created by The Economist newspaper to help people understand worldwide currency value. It has been hijacked by commentators the world over to show how expensive goods and services might be in another country.

The Marlies have an abundance of Macs. Anywhere else all these […]

Recently I had what seemed like a pretty funny idea. The Marlies were in Texas and I had Drew MacIntyre, on camera, talk about some interesting and obscure facts about Texas (there are a good number of them, like the ranch that is as big as Rhode Island) and I was going to have the rest of the team simply say ‘Texas is really big.” It was a bit of nod to the idea that we seldom know much about the places we visit but it also landed […]

Playoffs or not (but let’s be honest, there will be playoffs), this marks the final three-in-three of the season. Thank goodness.

The Marlies are in Rochester for Friday’s game against the Americans, their last against both a divisional and conference opponent. Saturday and Sunday will be played at home to close out the season against cross-conference rival, St. John’s. Here are six things to chew on ahead of puck drop:

Welcome aboard! The Toronto Marlies have lowered the ramp and a mass of talent has formed a crew of young guns trying to make their mark in the AHL. Following in the skate strides of Rielly, Sparks, Broll and Percy are other CHL grads Tyler Biggs (Oshawa-OHL) and Joshua Leivo (Sudbury/Kitchener-OHL) to go along with a captain last year in the NCAA – Andrew MacWilliam (North Dakota).

Tyler Biggs hit the OHL for the first time this season and […]

With four games to go in the regular season and playoffs looming, Tuesday’s matchup between the Marlies and Barons brings back memories of the 2012 Western Conference Finals. Oddly enough though, as they way things stand at the moment, it may better reflect the opening round of the 2013 post-season.

Toronto sits in second and although a run for the top spot is possible, eyes right now are on fending off the Griffins only one point behind. Oklahoma City sits seventh. The Barons […]

There you have it. Following Chicago’s loss on Friday night, the Marlies now know they have one of the eight Western Conference tickets allowing entry into the post-season gala. Now all that’s left to be decided is in which spot they’ll be slotted and if it will guarantee home ice advantage.

Marlies presently hold the conference’s second place. With a game in hand on first place Texas, a win against Abbotsford in their final duel this season will go a long way. Here are […]
