Toronto vs Rochester - Will Acton

Haven’t had enough of the Americans yet? Well then, you’ve come to the right place.

For the fourth time in two weeks the Marlies will take on divisional foe Rochester. The good news? the previous three have resulted in wins. In fact, including the first round playoff series between the two clubs, Toronto has defeated their Rochester rival in nine straight games. How’s that for a streak?

But unlike the meetings of late, Rochester heads into Saturday’s contest with the confidence of two straight victories behind them. One being to the Abbotsford team who recently ended the Marlies four game win streak.

Hear are my notes ahead of the game:

  • Jake Gardiner is not expected to play Saturday as he awaits his return to play following a hit sustained last Saturday vs Rochester
  • With the return of Jussi Rynnas to active duty, it is likely the Finnish netminder will start one of two games this weekend
  • A couple records on the line; Keith Aucoin is one point away from locking down sole possession of 11th most points of any AHL’er, Ryan Hamilton is three goals away from taking the all-time Marlies goal scoring title from Jeremy Williams
  • Amerks are coming off a 7-6 win over Lake Erie on Thursday where the team scored four straight in the third period to come from behind for the victory
  • Luke Adam has goals in three straight for Rochester, and five points over the past four games
  • Cody Hodgson has yet to return from injury

TSN1050 will be the home of Marlies hockey for all nine games straight through to January 2nd in the new year. So tune in to Jon Abbott starting at 7:00pm tonight as he brings you all the action from Blue Cross Arena. If listening online is more your style, then AHL Live has you covered. The audio feed is always free, the video costs only a few dollars.
