Welcome back, Marlies fans!

The Toronto Marlies will be opening up their 10th anniversary season at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday at 3pm when they host the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. This will be the first of eight meetings between the two teams this season, and game one of a Thanksgiving Weekend double-header between the two teams.

In the complicated game of Chess there is a famous opening set of moves. Ruy Lopez is the name of the Spanish priest who almost 500 years ago thought them up and presumably beat everyone for a long time before no one would play him anymore. His name was put on the opening and people still play it today. The Leafs rookies have once again traveled to London for this year’s Rookie Tournament with their first game set for Saturday night at 7pm versus the Chicago Blackhawks rookies. Leafs fans will get their first chance to see 2014 first round draft pick William Nylander in action as he is expected to suit up for the blue and white.  Marlies head coach Gord Dineen will be behind the bench along with Marlies associate coach Derek King and assistant coach Ben Simon.
