In the complicated game of Chess there is a famous opening set of moves. Ruy Lopez is the name of the Spanish priest who almost 500 years ago thought them up and presumably beat everyone for a long time before no one would play him anymore. His name was put on the opening and people still play it today. Of course there have been several rebuttals in the chess world since then but that’s quite a testament to the person when the game still reveres you hundreds of years later.
The Leafs rookies have once again traveled to London for this year’s Rookie Tournament with their first game set for Saturday night at 7pm versus the Chicago Blackhawks rookies. Leafs fans will get their first chance to see 2014 first round draft pick William Nylander in action as he is expected to suit up for the blue and white. Marlies head coach Gord Dineen will be behind the bench along with Marlies associate coach Derek King and assistant coach Ben Simon.

The wait is over! The 2014-15 AHL regular season schedule was released on Wednesday morning, and the Marlies will be kicking off the season on Saturday, October 11th at home versus the Utica Comets.
