Saturday’s win over the St. John’s IceCaps give the Marlies 89 points on the season. Although the Texas Stars have a game in hand over Toronto, they’re both tied for the conference’s top spot.

Of the 19 Marlies that touched the ice, nine of them were rookies. Pretty fancy, huh? Rookie goalie, rookie defencemen, and even an all-rookie forward line.

Friday starts a four game stretch for the Marlies which will see the Toronto team span all of Canada’s time zones. Following the NHL trade deadline, Toronto’s hockey teams rosters have remained in tact. In fact, the AHL version has grown, following the completion of playoff runs in the CHL. A trio of OHL’ers have migrated to the American Hockey League to join the Marlies.

Garret Sparks played 60 of his club’s 68 games this season. While with the Guelph Storm, Sparks put up 36 regular season wins to lead the OHL and  to go along with a .917 save

The Marlies announced on Saturday the signing of both Ryan Grimshaw and Corey Syvret to American Hockey League contracts.

Ryan Grimshaw, a native of Rochester, NY, has suited up for 16 games this season with the Toronto Marlies, registering one assist and 13 penalty minutes and an even plus/minus rating along the way. Grimshaw split his development years with the US National Development Program and Harvard University.
