Matt Finn burst into the first game of his pro career. He started with veteran D-man and warrior class Marlie Korbinian Holzer, a savvy coaching move to steady any nerves. Up front, directly in front was his old, (as old as these young guys can be) pal Connor Brown with whom he won many championships growing up in Etobicoke. There was nothing right away that said he was out of place, out of his depth, a half step behind, and it would stay that way.

The Toronto Marlies are looking to bounce back following a 4-1 defeat to the Hamilton Bulldogs at home on Friday night as they travel to Utica to take on the Comets at 7pm on Saturday.

The Marlies and Comets last met on Sunday, October 12th where the Marlies bested the Comets 3-2 in overtime. Saturday’s match-up will mark the third of eight match-ups between the two teams this season.

The Toronto Marlies are back on the ice as they host their QEW Rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday evening at 7pm at Ricoh Coliseum. This will be the 2nd of 12 match-ups between the two teams this season. The last time the North Division rivals met was a week ago in Hamilton, where they Marlies edged out the Bulldogs 3-2 in overtime at Copps Coliseum.

The Toronto Marlies will close out their 3-in-3 weekend on Sunday afternoon when they host the Rockford IceHogs at Ricoh Coliseum at 3pm. This will be the first of two match-ups between the two teams, and the only visit Rockford will be making to Toronto.

On Saturday, the Marlies fell 4-1 to the Rochester Americans at Ricoh Coliseum. Connor Brown scored his first professional goal for the Marlies in the loss. With the defeat, the Marlies go 2-2 through the first four games of the season.

The busy weekend for the Marlies continues as the team will play their second game of their three-in-three this weekend when they host the Rochester Americans at 3pm on RogersTV.

Toronto is coming off of a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday evening in Hamilton against the Bulldogs. Patrick Watling, Josh Leivo and Spencer Abbott all tallied their first goals of the season in the victory with Abbott tallying the game-winning goal in overtime. Antoine Bibeau earned his first win of the season, making 29 saves in the victory.
