Even in the last game of the regular season, the Marlies had a 1st to celebrate. Tyler Biggs recorded his 1st AHL/Pro goal with the 1st tally of the game vs St. John’s. Biggs collected 26 this past season with the Generals in the OHL and had 9 with Miami of Ohio one year before in the NCAA. The former Maple Leaf’s 1st round pick became the 9th Marlie player this season to record his 1st AHL goal in the 2012-2013 campaign. Congrats, Tyler!

Seventy-five down, one to go.

The Marlies are guaranteed the second spot in the West regardless of how this game ends. With no disrespect to past teams, the rosters of the past two playoff-bound Marlies squads have been arguably the best since the club left St. John’s. Fitting that they close out the season against the IceCaps.

Ahead of the final contest of the regular season, here are six things to thing about:

Marlies have collected 86 wins in 151 games (two seasons) heading into ...

The Toronto Blue Jays have coined the hashtag that perfectly reflects my feelings for the Toronto Marlies right now. #LoveThisTeam

Toronto’s AHL club returns home after a game in Rochester that was much closer than the scoresheet shows. The Marlies are the North Division Champions for the second straight season. Despite adversity of all shapes and sizes, the facts read that the Marlies are heading to the playoffs with plenty of unfinished business left over from last year’s heartbreak in the finals.

Here are ...

Playoffs or not (but let’s be honest, there will be playoffs), this marks the final three-in-three of the season. Thank goodness.

The Marlies are in Rochester for Friday’s game against the Americans, their last against both a divisional and conference opponent. Saturday and Sunday will be played at home to close out the season against cross-conference rival, St. John’s. Here are six things to chew on ahead of puck drop:

A win Friday will mean the Marlies clinch their second straight North Division title, ...

It’s time to play ketchup this time around at the Pre Game Meal….

DESSERT

Welcome aboard! The Toronto Marlies have lowered the ramp and a mass of talent has formed a crew of young guns trying to make their mark in the AHL. Following in the skate strides of Rielly, Sparks, Broll and Percy are other CHL grads Tyler Biggs (Oshawa-OHL) and Joshua Leivo (Sudbury/Kitchener-OHL) to go along with a captain last year in the NCAA – Andrew MacWilliam (North Dakota).

Tyler Biggs hit the OHL for the first time this season and ...

With four games to go in the regular season and playoffs looming, Tuesday’s matchup between the Marlies and Barons brings back memories of the 2012 Western Conference Finals. Oddly enough though, as they way things stand at the moment, it may better reflect the opening round of the 2013 post-season.

Toronto sits in second and although a run for the top spot is possible, eyes right now are on fending off the Griffins only one point behind. Oklahoma City sits seventh. The Barons ...
