Opening weekend continues for the Marlies as they face the Lake Erie Monsters, AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche today at 5pm at Ricoh Coliseum. This will be the third game in 3 days for the Monsters and the second game in two days for the Marlies. The Monsters hosted the Abbotsford Heat at home on Friday and Saturday and earned a split over the two games.

The Toronto Marlies will face a familiar foe when they open the 2013-14 regular season, as they host the reigning Calder Cup Champions the Grand Rapids Griffins this afternoon at 3pm at Ricoh Coliseum. The last time these two teams met was on May 21, 2013 when the Griffins eliminated the Marlies from the post-season with a 4-3 victory.

Not to get all Walter White after the fact but; it is all about chemistry. Good teams have fallen apart because of one player. Coaches spend as much time on chemistry as they do on line combinations trying to make sure everyone is in the circle and if someone is on the outside of it, that they don’t pull anyone else out their way. That almost leans into physics and gravity. No wonder they teach this stuff to school kids.
