The Stars are coming off of a 2-1 win over the Comets last night in Utica. The Toronto Marlies (6-6-1-0) will be taking on a brand new opponent as they face off against the Charlotte Checkers (5-8-0-1) for the very first time this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.

The Checkers currently sit last in the West Division and are amidst a 5-game losing streak. Their last match-up was on Thursday at home against the Hershey Bears where they lost 8-1. The Toronto Marlies fell to the Lake Erie Monsters by a score of 3-1 on Thursday evening at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

After a scoreless first period, Josh Leivo opened up the scoring for the Marlies for the third game in a row at 11:16 of the second period.
