The Toronto Marlies (28-16-2-2) return to regular season action today as they host the Utica Comets (19-23-3-4) today at Ricoh Coliseum. This will be the third of six match-ups between the North Division rivals this season. The last time these two teams met was on Saturday, January 4th at Ricoh Coliseum, where the Marlies defeated the Comets in a convincing 5-2 victory.
The Comets last hit the ice on Saturday against the Rochester Americans, where they defeated Rochester 2-1 in Utica. With the win, the Comets have picked up points in 10 of their last 13 games. Pascal Pelletier leads the team in scoring with 40 points over 42 games. The Comets currently sit last in the North Division, one point behind the Lake Erie Monsters.
Yesterday, the Marlies hosted Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League in exhibition action at Ricoh Coliseum as part of the AHL’s All-Star showcase. The Marlies defeated Färjestad by a score of 4-3 in overtime. Greg McKegg scored two goals, while Dylan Yeo notched the game winner in overtime and was also named the Player of the Game for the Marlies.
