The Toronto Marlies (40-20-2-3) host the Iowa Wild (25-30-6-4) this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum for their second game of their three in three. The last time the Marlies and the Wild met was on January 15th where the Marlies defeated the Wild 4-3 in Iowa.
The Wild are coming off of a 7-0 shutout loss to the Charlotte Checkers this past Wednesday at home in an eventful affair. The teams amassed 44 penalties and 248 combined total penalty minutes. Today’s match-up against Toronto will be the first stop in a 5-game road trip for Iowa. With 60 points, the Wild currently sit last in the Midwest Division.
The Marlies return home following a 4-2 victory over the Rochester Americans on Friday evening. Carter Ashton opened the scoring with his 15th goal of the season while Sam Carrick scored the game winning goal in the victory. With the win, the Marlies widened their North Division lead to 85 points, 15 points ahead of 2nd place Rochester.
