The Toronto Marlies (6-6-1-0) will be taking on a brand new opponent as they face off against the Charlotte Checkers (5-8-0-1) for the very first time this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
The Checkers currently sit last in the West Division and are amidst a 5-game losing streak. Their last match-up was on Thursday at home against the Hershey Bears where they lost 8-1. The Checkers are winless at home this season, but hold a record of 5-2-1 while on the road. Forward Victor Rask leads all active Checkers players in points with 10.
The Marlies are coming off of a 3-1 road loss to the Lake Erie Monsters on Thursday evening, which capped off a 6 game road stand for the team. Spencer Abbott had an assist on the lone goal of the game, which extended his point streak to 12 games. The Marlies are 4-2 at Ricoh Coliseum this season, and this will be the first game at home in over two weeks for the team as they looks to stop their 3-game losing skid.
