The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons by a score of 5-3 on Thursday evening at the Cox Convention Center.
Ryan Hamilton opened the scoring for the Barons against his former team at 8:52 of the first period. The Barons extended their lead in the second period when Tyler Pitlick tipped a shot from the point past Drew MacIntyre. The Marlies got on the board with a Spencer Abbott goal at 13:56 of the middle frame, his first of two goals on the evening. The Barons regained their two goal lead when Travis Ewanyk scored less than three minutes later to make it 3-1. Abbott notched his second goal of the night just four seconds into a Marlies power play at 18:49 of the second to bring the Marlies within one. T.J. Brennan tied it at three at 7:28 of the third period, but the Barons would score two more, including an empty netter to secure a 5-3 victory.
