The Toronto Marlies (14-9-1-1) are in Charlotte for the first time in franchise history to take on the Checkers (12-14-0-1) tonight for a 7:00 pm tilt at Time Warner Cable Arena.

This will be the third of four match-ups between the two teams this season. The last time the Marlies took on the Checkers was on November 19th at home where the Marlies defeated the Checkers 3-2.

Charlotte is coming off of a 5-4 victory over the Norfolk Admirals at home on Thursday evening. After going up 3-0 in the game, the Admirals scored four unanswered goals with the Checkers tying it and scoring the game winner in the third period just 33 seconds apart. The win extended the Checkers’ win streak to four games. With a record of 12-14-0-1, Charlotte currently sits third in the West Division.

The Marlies last game was on Wednesday in Rochester where they lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Americans. Carter Ashton scored the lone goal for the Marlies while Drew MacIntyre made 28 saves and was named the game’s first star. Toronto currently sits first in the North Division with 30 points.
