The Toronto Marlies defeated the Utica Comets by a score of 5-2 Tuesday night in Utica. This is the 6th win of the season for the Marlies, and the team currently sits first place in the North Division with 13 points.
Alexandre Grenier opened the scoring early in the game for the Comets, banging in a rebound at the 1:10 mark of the opening frame. Sam Carrick would get the Marlies on the board at 17:10 of the first with his first goal of the season. The Marlies would go on to have a very productive second period as Jesse Blacker gave the Marlies a 2-1 lead early into the second for his first goal of the season. With an assist on the goal, Spencer Abbott extended his point streak to 9 games. Less than two minutes later, T.J. Brennan scored his first of two goals of the game to make it 3-1. Stefan Legein earned his second goal of the season on a Marlies power play after sliding home a rebound past Joacim Eriksson at 17:32. The Comets would make it 4-2 at the end of the second thanks to a power play goal from Benn Ferriero. Brennan would score his 10th goal in 10 games in the third period to make it 5-2 for the Marlies.
