The Toronto Marlies battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the first period to defeat the Iowa Wild 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday evening at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. 3 different Marlies had multiple point nights in the victory – T.J. Brennan (1G, 3A), Spencer Abbott (2G, 1A), and Josh Leivo (1G, 1A).
Jake Dowell opened the scoring for the Wild at 3:56 of the first period. Defenseman Steven Kampfer made it 2-0 for Iowa less than 10 minutes later to give the Wild the lead to end the first. The Marlies would get on the board on the powerplay in the second period when Spencer Abbott scored his 7th goal of the season at 5:25 of the middle frame. Abbott would score once again on the powerplay to tie the game at 2 at 13:02 of the second period. Carson McMillan regained the lead for Iowa when he made it 3-2 in the third period, but Josh Leivo tied it at 16:12, once again on the powerplay, to push the game to overtime. T.J. Brennan, already with 3 assists on the night, would score the game winner just over a minute into overtime.
