The Toronto Marlies and Chicago Wolves are back in action for Round 2 of the Calder Cup playoffs tonight at 8pm on LeafsTV.

The Marlies currently lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 following a convincing 5-2 victory last night. Trevor Smith opened up the scoring for the Marlies on the powerplay. In his return to the line-up from injury, Peter Holland tallied three points including a goal and two assists. Spencer Abbott, who was also playing in his first game back from injury also had two assists in the victory. With an assist in yesterday’s game, Jerry D’Amigo continues to lead the team in playoff scoring with 7 points over 4 games.

Toronto capitalized on two powerplay chances in the game, going 2-for-5 with the man advantage on the night. Despite a rally from the Wolves, the Marlies controlled the pace of the game.  “You always want to send a message early on in the series,” said captain Trevor Smith following the game. “We know we’ll get a little bit more from them [today.]”

How could D’Amigo have seven points in five games when they swept the last series in three and have only played game one of this series?
