The Toronto Marlies (20-11-2-2) take on the Iowa Wild (15-16-2-2), AHL affiliate of the Minneosta Wild, for the first time in franchise history tonight at 8pm ET at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Minnesota. This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season.
The Wild last hit the ice on Sunday, where they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Hamilton Bulldogs on the road at Copps Coliseum to finish off a 6 game road trip. Forward Marc Hagel scored the lone tally for the Wild. With a record of 15-16-2-2, the Wild are currently last place in the Midwest Division.
The Marlies last game was also on Sunday, where they fell 5-4 in a shootout to the St. John’s IceCaps to close out their season series against the team. Peter Holland had two goals in the shootout loss while the Marlies went 2-for-4 on the powerplay. With 44 points, the Marlies currently hold a 2 point lead over the Bulldogs for first in the North Division.
