The Toronto Marlies (18-10-2-1) will host the Syracuse Crunch (13-14-1-3) tonight at Ricoh Coliseum in their first game of 2014. This will be the first of two match-ups between the two teams this season. Last season, the Marlies went 1-1 against the Crunch. Their last meeting was on March 6th, 2013 where the Marlies won in a convincing 6-3 victory.

The Crunch are currently last in the East division. The last time the Crunch hit the ice was on December 31st, 2013, closing out the year with a 5-2 loss against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on the road. Vladislav Namestnikov leads all active Crunch skaters with 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) in 17 games played.

The Toronto Marlies last game was also on New Year’s Eve, where they defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins by a score of 3-1 in the second of back-to-back games against the team. T.J. Brennan had two points in the victory and was named the game’s first star. With the victory, the Marlies increased their North Division lead to 39 points, 4 points ahead of the second place Hamilton Bulldogs.
